Book Description

Join us as we celebrate our wonderful world through the eyes of fibre artist Karen Miller and her hooked rugs! You won’t want to miss this guide through the landscapes of the world. Wherever Karen goes, she is inspired by what she sees around her and uses those bits of inspiration later in her hooked rugs. Her travels, both around her native Canada and far away overseas, inform her work and Karen’s work inspires us all to keep our own eyes open to the world. Whether it is the surf crashing at the base of rocky cliffs or the colourful leaves on a forest floor, Karen helps us see the world with new eyes.

Full-colour photos throughout, of magnificent scenery and of rugs and hooked pieces inspired by the landscape, along with the photography tips and principles of art and design make this much more than a typical craft book. You won’t want to miss this one — everyone has a favourite landscape, and Karen helps us to see the land with new eyes.

About the Author

About Karen D. Miller

Karen Miller first took up a hook in 2008 and has been creating original designs in her studio in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada ever since. Karen is convinced that we all have an artist within us. She is a teacher and frequent contributor to Rug Hooking magazine, where she encourages everyone to pick up a hook, a pen, a brush, and let their imagination run wild. She has shown her work in group and solo shows across Canada and the United States and is a passionate believer that hooking and fibre arts are every bit as much an art form as any other medium.
