A Beginner's Guide to Tools, Techniques, and Materials by Kris Miller (Author)

Book Description

Crafting enthusiasts get introduced to the art of rug hooking in different ways. Some may have come across hooked rugs at a crafting fair while others stumbled upon a book at the library. No matter how rug hooking came into someone's life, the biggest challenge is learning the techniques necessary to create a wonderful work of art. Rug hooking teacher Kris Miller patiently and thoroughly guides new rug hooking fans into the art with Introduction to Rug Hooking Techniques: A Beginner's Guide to Tools, Techniques, & Materials. This book shows crafters how to draw a pattern onto the backing and prepare their materials, how to hook a rug with step-by-step illustrations and instructions, and how to finish and care for the rug. Included are 8 charming projects with patterns along with tips and techniques throughout accompanied by over 400 photos.

Love to Make

September 2015

It's ideal for a beginner but, if you have been hooking for years, it makes a great reference guide too. Divided into two parts, the first section teaches you everything you need to know to get started with instructions that are clear and easy to follow. Part two features eight projects each introducing you to a new technique. We think this books is one of the most comprehensive rug hooking books we have seen and a great addition to a craft library
