This book is another great offering from the Search Press '20 to Make series', which again delivers exactly what it promises in this generously priced book. Written by renowned needlework author Anne Cox, it is easy to follow with lovely, full-colour photographs and clear step-by-step instructions. With 20 pretty designs Anne gives a new twist to a traditional technique, with ideas on how they can be used to embellish clothes, accessories and cushions. This small book will open up the world of ribbon embroidery to a new generation of embroiderers.
Transform silk ribbon into beautiful flowers to enhance clothes, accessories, quilts and corsages. Although the author's previous books are better for the total tyro, you don't need to know a lot to tackle these projects. At the front of the book are two pages showing you how to do the few stitches you need, and these include staged photographs for foolproof stitching. The rest of the book is filled with twenty flowers, each one consisting of a full page photograph (often giving an idea for use) plus materials and written instructions. There are often close-ups or helpful diagrams showing something tricky, and a template if necessary. Choose from temperate garden favorites such as a classic rose, fuchsias, red poppy, cornflower, pansy, sunflower and Christmas poinsettia, to name a few. At the back is a useful page of tips. This is a very user-friendly book that is sure to get many more people converted to embroidering with ribbon, and is a particularly impressive entry in the Twenty To Make series
Using silk ribbon with simple embroidery stitches, experienced designer and embroiderer Ann, demonstrates how to make twenty beautiful blooms. From a delicate rose sampler in pastel pinks to a zingy dahlia on a denim jacket, Ann's instructions ensure successful and recognisable flowers can be produced by all. Outstanding value for money.
