A Quilting Cozy by Carol Dean Jones (Author)

Book Description

When sixty-eight year old Sarah Miller moves into the Cunningham Village retirement community, she is mourning the loss of the husband, her young grandson, and the place that has been home for forty-two years. But Sarah is a survivor. As she reaches out into the retirement community that is to become home, she finds friends, activities, new hobbies, a possible love interest, and of course, crimes to solve and murderers to track down.

The ninth instalment of this fun, friendly series of cozy mysteries draws together a tattered quilt, an exhaustive search through the past, a murder suspect, and a grand jury hearing into a compelling mystery.

I am very late to the party with these superb cozy mysteries. Being an avid sewist and craft blogger Tattered & Torn was a real treat to read.

Sarah Miller discovers a rare quilt find in a thrift shop, she decides to try and restore it as it is a little tattered..and torn. Soon she discovers that there is more to the history of the quilt, and what happens next is an absolute delight.

I loved following her detective work in order to discover the origins of the very special quilt. It turns out to be quite a sad and emotive find. With murder, a little bit of chaos and a wedding this is a fun read too.

Filled with amazing characters.. not all good and kind.. this is an easy read. The plot is simple, but fascinating and what I really loved was the history of the quilt that was in depth and really interesting.

There is a pattern project at the end, complete with template and instructions.

This is the 9th instalment and I am looking forward to catching up with this fabulous series.
