Scrappy, Happy and Loving It! by Bonnie K. Hunter (Author)

Book Description

Scraps! We’ve all got them big pieces, small pieces some we’ve saved from our own projects, others we’ve acquired from other quilter-friends who know of our love and passion for great variety in our quilts.
Bonnie is back! And this time she’s introducing us to a world of string piecing. Strings are strips and scraps usually too small to be useful for other projects, but they are just right for these 13 new quilts. Dig into your scraps and create your own unique, one-of-a-kind string quilts, for each string quilt is unique there are no two alike ever! Even when made in the same design, simply the fact that the fabrics vary so much quilter by quilter, it is impossible to duplicate a string quilt. Within these pages you will find a twist on traditional, time-honored designs along with some new ideas straight from Bonnie’s scrappy imagination.

Reviews

It really is amazing what can be created with small pieces of fabric. Bonnie brings together her techniques of using String - pieces of fabric too small to be used in sewing. She teaches you how to sew them together to make strips and blocks.
From there she then shows you projects that you can use them in. As a new quilter I am very excited about using scraps. I don't have much of a stash and by using the scraps it means I can get more quilts out of the fabric I have.  In this day and age I feel like we should be using up everything you can. You can even use fabric that is down to 3/4". Isn't that amazing. You don't need to waste any of those pieces. I love these type of books that no only show you a technique they show you multiple projects that you can use the techniques with. The designs are so inspirational and use other techniques as well to bring you an amazing array of different designs. There are step by step instruction so even a newbie
like me is able to make quilts using the string method.
I really love this book and will be using Bonnie's technique to use up my scraps and increase the amount of quilts that I am making.
